Daycare & Boarding Requirements

1. Each dog must complete and pass an evaluation before attending daycare or overnight boarding. This helps us ensure each dog is comfortable, safe, and a good fit for our group-care environment.
2. Dogs must be at least 12 weeks old.
3. Dogs 8 months of age or older must be spayed or neutered.
4. Dogs must be comfortable around other dogs and people. They must not show unsafe behavior around toys, food, kennels, gates, or other objects.
5. For safety reasons, dogs with certain major medical conditions may not be a good fit for our open group-care environment. This may include, but is not limited to, seizures, uncontrolled diabetes, Addison’s disease, bloat/gastric torsion, exercise-induced collapse, or other serious/life-threatening health concerns.
6. Dogs must be current on rabies and DHPP vaccinations. Puppies must have completed the appropriate vaccination series for their age. 
7. All dogs must be on a monthly flea and tick preventative.
8. Bandages, cones, stitches, booties/socks, bandanas, bows, flea/tick collars, or similar items are not allowed in group play areas for safety reasons.
9. Dogs showing signs of contagious illness or parasites, including puppy warts, kennel cough, worms, fleas, frequent/liquid diarrhea, vomiting, or other concerning symptoms, may be isolated from the group. Owners will be contacted to determine the next steps. If we cannot reach the owner and veterinary care is needed, the dog may be taken to a veterinarian at the owner’s expense.
10. Dogs who are acting aggressively, are overly stressed, or are endangering the safety of themselves, staff, or other dogs may be removed from the group. Owners may be contacted for early pick-up if needed. Behaviors that may result in removal include aggression, excessive rough play, excessive barking or whining, excessive humping, unsafe gate behavior, or other disruptive behaviors.
11. If a dog has not attended our facility in 3 months or more, another evaluation day may be required before daycare or boarding.
12. Paws Unleashed reserves the right to decline, pause, or discontinue services for any dog if we feel our environment is not the safest or best fit for that dog, our staff, or the other dogs in our care.

Breed Policy

Breed Restrictions & Group Play Safety Policy

At Paws Unleashed, the safety, happiness, and well-being of every dog in our care is always our top priority! ????

We believe wonderful dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and breeds. However, because our daycare operates in a large, social group-play environment, we recognize that not every dog or breed is the right fit for our particular setting.

Our breed restrictions are not based on the belief that certain breeds are inherently aggressive or that an individual dog is dangerous. Rather, they reflect physical strength, handling considerations, and the potential consequences of conflicts within a large group setting.

Even the friendliest, most well-socialized dogs can occasionally have disagreements. Our responsibility is to make thoughtful decisions that help keep both our canine guests and our team members as safe as possible.

For the safety and management of our group-play environment, Paws Unleashed does not accept the following breeds or dogs predominantly mixed with these breeds.

Mixed Breeds & Rescue Dogs

We understand that identifying a dog’s breed, especially with rescues, is not always straightforward!

Our restrictions generally apply to purebred dogs and dogs predominantly mixed with the breeds listed above. We recognize that breed labels are sometimes based on estimates rather than confirmed ancestry.

Individual Temperament & Evaluations

Beyond our breed restrictions, we recognize that every dog is an individual with their own unique personality, temperament, and play style.

All new dogs must successfully complete a behavioral evaluation before participating in our daycare or boarding programs.

During this evaluation, we consider:

• Comfort and confidence around other dogs
• Appropriate social skills and play styles
• Responsiveness to our handlers
• Ability to settle and take breaks when needed
• Overall comfort and suitability for our group-play environment

Even dogs without breed restrictions may not be a good fit for group daycare, and that’s okay! Our goal is to ensure that every dog we welcome can have a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience.

Our Commitment to Safety

We understand that breed restrictions can sometimes be disappointing, especially when you know what a wonderful companion your dog is.

Please know that these policies are not a judgment of your dog’s character or a reflection of how loving, friendly, or well-trained they may be.

They are simply part of the safety standards we’ve established based on our facility’s group-play environment, handling considerations, and our responsibility to the dogs and people in our care.

Behavior & Ongoing Evaluation Policy

Passing an initial evaluation does not guarantee permanent acceptance into our daycare or boarding program. Dogs change over time, and behaviors may develop as they mature, age, become more confident, stressed, overstimulated, or uncomfortable in a group setting.

For the safety of all dogs and staff, every dog at Paws Unleashed is continually evaluated during each visit. If at any time a dog displays behaviors that are unsafe, overly stressful, disruptive, or no longer appropriate for a group-care environment, we reserve the right to pause or discontinue daycare and/or boarding services.

This may include, but is not limited to:

• Aggression toward dogs or people
• Resource guarding
• Excessive rough play or over-arousal
• Repeated inability to settle in a group environment
• Unsafe kennel or gate behaviors
• Excessive barking, whining, or humping
• Anxiety or stress levels that negatively impact the dog’s wellbeing
• Behaviors that create safety concerns for staff or other dogs

Our goal is always to create a safe, calm, structured, and positive environment for every dog in our care.
